Tempaerator SSHE
Where
traditional systems make use of separate equipment
for tempering and aerating WPI has designed a new
system which combines both processes into one
single machine.
The TempAerator is a
unique combination of a vertical Scraped Surface
Heat Exchanger (SSHE) with two concentric heat
exchange surfaces providing the heat transfer, and
a continuous Aerator. The two concentric heat
exchange area's have a large heat transfer area
but compact outside dimensions.

The
vertical design makes the TempAerator easy to
clean because it can drain completely. Another
advantage is the ease of maintenance, all parts
can be accessed from the top of the machine by one
person.
There is only one drive and one
shaft seal. Scraper blades can be exchanged
without having to dismantle the SSHE, or shaft
seal.
Aeration
A Continuous High Shear Mixing
Head is mounted at the exit of the SSHE part of
the machine. To create the mixing action and shear
rate, the connecting faces of the stators and both
faces of the rotor have a machined intermeshing
teeth arrangement.
The mixing head is
radial disc type, where the product and aeration
medium (sterile air/gas) are being proportionately
fed from the SSHE outlet into the rear stator.In
the first stage the product is gently blended.
The mixing action is then progressively
increased to a maximum at the outside diameter of
the rotor from where it gently decreases again so
that the product leaves the head in a uniform
homogenous condition.
Density control
The TempAerator is
executed with an automatic density control system.
The operator can enters the required
parameters for:
- Product density before the TempAerator
- Required density after the TempAerator
The PLC control calculates the airflow
in relation with the product throughput, and
regulate the amount of air that is injected into
the product by means of an Air mass flow
controller.
Product range
The model 900 as described
has a heat transfer area of 0.9m2,
Larger
models are also available:
- TempAerator 1600, with 1.6 m2 heat transfer
area
- TempAerator 2500, with 2.5 m2 heat transfer
area
