Soft Gelatin Capsule Trays
Tray features:
These Capsule Drying trays are molded from Polyester reinforced materials that provide a smooth surface that will not mark the capsules.
- As the trays are molded there are no seams or crevices preventing contamination.
- The molded trays have superb dimensional stability and load carrying capacity without tray distortion or warpage. This in turn yields extremely stable drying stacks.
- Air circulation to assist drying is possible through the lowered tray sides. Continuous drying temperatures that can exceed 150 deg C.
- CME trays are designed to provide easy lifting at the corners with no sharp edges.
- All raw materials used are classified FDA and EEC direct food contact.
Capsule Drying Tray – Specifications 760 x 605 Tray
1 MATERIALS:
1.1: Colour of finished product to be uniform over the complete tray and white unless otherwise specified.
1.2: Fibreglass reinforcement to be minimum of 22% as measured by Ash content and fibre length of 25mm.
1.3: The Flexural strength of the material is typically more than 145 MPa when tested to ASTM D790.
1.4: The Impact strength is typically more than 0.7 KJ/m when tested to ASTM D256.
1.5: The Flexural Modulus is Typically more than 11 Gpa when tested to ASTM D790
1.6: The Tensile Strength is typically more than 70 MPa when tested to ASTM D638
2 DIMENSIONS AND TOLERANCES:

2.2: A stack of trays 2 metres high should be upright with a maximum deviation of 2mm from top to bottom.
2.3: Adjoining corners to be radius of 3mm on external angles and 5mm on internal angles except where otherwise specified.
2.4: All Draft angles to be minimum 2deg unless specified.
2.5: Trays are molded flat with maximum deflection 2mm at tray ends or in centre when measured with a straight edge.
3. FITNESS FOR PURPOSE:
3.1: Tray bottom should be capable of carrying load equivalent to 60Kg/sq mtr, uniformly spread over entire surface of tray base. Base should remain rigid and maintain dimensional tolerances under these conditions.
3.2: The Composite material should not be capable of detachment from main body of tray through normal wear and tear, so as to potentially contaminate products.
3.3: Trays to be stackable so that arrangement will prevent horizontal movement of tray, between two adjacent trays of more than ± 1.5 mm. Tray stacks to be stable without excessive rocking.
3.4: All tray edges to be completely free of Glass fibres and to be filed smooth.
4 FINISH:
4.1: Surface finish to be smooth to 400 grit finish except where otherwise specified as follows:
4.2: No scorch or burn marks larger than one sq centimetre to appear on any surface.
4.3 Porosity and cavities not acceptable on any Capsule contact area.
4.4: Finish trays not to exhibit any signs of cracking, chipping, delamination or faults that could become a source of debris contaminants. This includes all grades of Blisters. Small traces of Capran carrier film permitted on Tray underside only.
5 PACKING AND DESPATCH:
5.1: Trays are normally packed on pallets. Timber bracing is used at front of stacks to prevent tray movement.
5.2: Alternatively trays can be packed on customer supplied stillages.
5.3: Trays can be prewashed by CME by prior agreement.
